Submit nominations for Davids-Dunham Award

Interested in supporting diversity at K State? Consider nominating a College of Arts & Sciences faculty member who identifies as a member of an underrepresented group seeking support for their scholarship or a faculty member whose scholastic efforts support diversity at Kansas State University for the Davids-Dunham Award.
This award, given twice each academic year, supports faculty research, writing, teaching and professional development.
Established in 2019, one previous award recipient has reestablished her research capacity and another committed to a mentorship process that contributed to her successful tenure process through the Davids-Dunham Award.
April Petillo received the award in spring 2019, a semester after she lost many of her research materials in the floods that devastated the local Manhattan community on Labor Day 2018. Seeking a way to replace those resources and rebuild lost publishing relationships, Petillo was able to use funds from this award to replace lost material and attend two conferences to present her work.
Shireen Roshanravan used her fall 2020 Davis-Dunham Award to offset the costs for her participation in the National Center for Faculty Diversity and Development Faculty Success Program. The semesterlong program offered a network of mentorship, online writing platforms, weekly writing accountability group calls and webinars on how to maximize research productivity while striking a work/life balance.
The College of Arts and Sciences Diversity Committee encourages nominations of faculty through the online form. Space is provided for optional statements of support and self-nominations are accepted. This award will be given preferentially to junior faculty on the path to tenure, although mid-career faculty are welcome to be nominated.
Review of nominations will begin on March 30 but will continue until the award is given. Nominations after this date are still welcome.
Note: The Davids-Dunham Award is named for Sharice Davids and Ann Dunham. Both represent Kansas and have contributed to a discipline included in the College of Arts and Sciences while contributing to our society. Their work embodies the spirit of the candidates who win this award.
