Kimberly Kirkpatrick to present Anatomy and Physiology Seminar

Submitted by Gail Eyestone

Kimberly Kirkpatrick, university distinguished professor and director of the Cognitive and Neurobiological Approaches to Plasticity Center in the psychological sciences department, will present "Adventures in Translational Research" at the next Anatomy and Physiology Seminar at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, via Zoom.

Kirkpatrick’s main line of research in her laboratory is the role of timing and reward processes in determining impulsive and risky choice in rats. Her lab is investigating targeted therapeutic interventions to treat impulsivity in their rat model. In addition, she and her team hope to expand this line of research into a translational environment for application to targeted human populations. They are working on developing a model of timing, reward processing and temporal discounting.

Kirkpatrick became the director of the Cognitive and Neurobiological Approaches to Plasticity Center, or CNAP, in 2017, which is funded by a $10.6 million grant from the National Institutes of General Medical Sciences.
