Primary texts program and Live Ideas to host first summer 2021 institute
Calling all writers and creators! The primary texts program and Live Ideas Undergraduate Journal will host the first institute of the summer from June 23-29. If your application is accepted and you attend the full duration of each session via Zoom from 7-8:30 p.m. each night, you will receive a $250 scholarship in recognition of your participation. Sessions are mainly peer-to-peer discussion of ongoing ideas and projects with an aim to publishing them in Live Ideas Undergraduate Journal.
The institute will be structured in the following manner:
Writers will have an opportunity to hear from a guest speaker on the first day of the institute, Wednesday, June 23, and the workshop sessions will begin on the second day, Thursday, June 24. The institute will not meet June 25-27 to give participants time to further prepare their pieces and narrow their focus in preparation for the remainder of the institute. The second round of workshop sessions will take place on Monday, June 28, in final preparation for presentations on Tuesday, June 29.
"The Live Ideas institutes are dedicated to cultivating creativity, intellectual growth, and a community of scholars," said Live Ideas editor Suan Sonna. "These institutes will help students develop and perfect their own original works, such as a poem, short story, essay, song, and more. The workshops will be lively, constructive and collegial."
Applications will be open soon. Email Laurie Johnson at lauriej@k-state.edu or Sonna at suan@k-state.edu with any questions. We hope to see you there.
