Legislative Update
The 2021 Legislative Veto Session convened Monday, May 3, and is expected to adjourn by May 12. The Legislature will review actions taken on bills by Gov. Laura Kelly after its April 9 first adjournment.
The Legislature passed 78 bills this session and sent them to the governor. Of the 78 bills, Gov. Kelly signed 71 bills, vetoed eight bills and issued 18 line-item vetoes in the fiscal year 2021 and 2022 budget bill. One bill became law after 10 days without the governor’s signature.
At this time of the session, legislative business moves quickly and the schedule is fluid. If you have an interest in any bill or issue and would like to know the status, please email kstategr@k-state.edu and we will respond to your inquiry.
