Kansas Board of Regents January meeting agenda items

The Kansas Board of Regents will meet virtually Jan. 19 and 20. A livestream will be available for individuals to listen remotely.
The Regents will consider the following agenda items related to Kansas State University at the meeting.
Consent agenda
The Regents will act on K-State’s request to raze a haybarn at the Agricultural Research Center in Hays. The barn suffered extensive damage during the windstorm on Dec. 15, 2021.
Discussion agenda
In response to the significant disruptions that have occurred based on the COVID-19 pandemic, the Regents will consider an exception to the tenure clock extension policy. The Regents approved an exception to the tenure clock extension policy at the April 2020 meeting for probationary faculty hired pre-2020. The state universities are requesting to grant a tenure-clock extension to the faculty cohort who began their positions during the fall 2020 semester.
In support of the board’s Facilities Capital Renewal Initiative, the Regents will receive a proposal for establishing a consistent method to account for the universities’ annual in-house facilities expenditures toward the annual maintenance assessment.
The Regents will receive updates on the state’s investments in research programs at the university. Bonnie Rush, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, will present on the Veterinary Health Center and David Rosowsky, vice president for research, will present on global food systems.
The board’s Economic Prosperity Pillar highlights the direct benefits of higher education to the Kansas economy and the overall prosperity of Kansans. President Richard Myers will present K-State’s economic prosperity plan.
On Jan. 20, the Regents will receive an update on the Kansas State Board of Education’s Graduation Requirements Task Force.
