Legislative Update
This week the Kansas House of Representatives and Senate will be in daylong sessions debating the bills that were reported out of each chamber’s committees as of March 18. Both the House and Senate will adjourn mid-week to allow time for conference committees to schedule meetings on bills. The week of March 28-April 1 will be the final week of the regular Kansas legislative session. The veto session will convene on April 25.
Debate will occur on bills of interest to K-State, including:
House Bill 2600 authorizing the university to sell certain tracks of land in Riley County, Kansas, and Douglas County, Nebraska.
House Bill 2605 regarding the College of Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Program.
Senate Bill 450 amending the process to dispose of state property.
The Kansas Legislature will provide virtual access to committee meetings and floor action throughout the 2022 legislative session. Links to access the meetings can be found at kslegislature.org/li.
The Office of Government Relations will provide virtual weekly Legislative Updates through the remainder of the Legislative session, which is scheduled to adjourn in early May. The updates will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Fridays by Zoom.
