48-Hour Film Challenge kicks off today

Submitted by Tyler Traxson

K-State's annual 48-Hour Film Challenge is back in person and kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building.

This year, in honor of the Gordon Parks exhibition at the Beach Museum of Art, the theme is based on a quote from the photographer and filmmaker: "Kansas: All the beauty in the world to work with."

What is a 48-hour film challenge?
As the name implies, small groups have just 48 hours to create an original two- to six-minute film. The film could be about anything but must include three creative elements: a location, a prop and a spoken line. 48 hours later, the film is returned to be judged and prepped for the film festival exhibition and awards ceremony. Films are judged by professionals from the region and prizes will be awarded in several categories, including the Audience Choice Award.

The film festival premiere and awards ceremony will be Thursday, March 31, at 5 p.m. in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building.
