The Johnson Cancer Research Center will host the 2022 K-State Cancer Research Week Sept. 12-17 on the Manhattan campus. The week is full of cancer research-related events to inform the public about the basic cancer research performed at K-State and fundraising events.

The events will take place in the Manhattan area on campus and at local businesses in the surrounding area.

The week kicks off Sept. 12 with an open house event where visitors and students can tour labs across campus and speak with some of the leading cancer researchers at the university. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, the Cancer Data Blitz will be in the K-State Student Union and hosted by noted local emcee Dave Lewis. Researchers and faculty members will only have two minutes and two slides to present their research and information. Recent graduate cancer research awardees will also present their work in poster format.

From 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, Manhattan Brewing Company will host Meet the Researcher. Guests can learn about cancer research from K-State's own researchers while enjoying delicious local brews. On Thursday, Sept. 15, guests can look forward to the Bascom Lecture Series given by Prescott Deininger, director of the Tulane Cancer Center. Deininger will give two lectures, one at 4 p.m. on campus and one at 7 p.m. at Bluestem Bistro.

The 24th annual Rob Regier Memorial Golf Tournament will be Friday, Sept. 16, at the Colbert Hills Golf Course. Tee-off will be at 1 p.m. The charity golf tournament offers a steak dinner, silent auction, souvenir items and prizes.

From now through Sept. 2, motorcycle riders will ride and help raise donations to fund research, equipment and student awards through collecting pledges. The Ride for a Cure will wrap up on Saturday, Sept. 17, with a celebration tailgate party at the Midwest Dream Car Collection. The event will include food, drinks, music and more to celebrate the end of the K-State Cancer Research Week.
