Rudenko named American Physical Society fellow

Artem Rudenko

K-State physics professor Artem Rudenko has been named a 2023 fellow of the American Physical Society for his exceptional contributions to physics. Fellows are nominated for this honor by their professional peers.

Each year, no more than one-half of 1% of the society's membership, excluding student members, are elected as fellows for their contributions to advances in physics through original research and publications, the application of physics to science and technology, or teaching of physics or service and participation in the activities of the society.

Rudenko, who is also the director of the James R. Macdonald Laboratory, was selected for this honor by his peers in the Division of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics. He was recognized for "outstanding contributions to the understanding of correlated few-particle dynamics in strong field interactions with atoms and molecules, and for leadership in developing and conducting coincident molecular imaging experiments at X-ray free-electron laser facilities."

Rudenko brings the total number of American Physical Society fellows in the current physics faculty to seven.
