Winners of biomanufacuring equipment proposals announced

Submitted by Erin Pennington

Through funding provided by the state of Kansas to support the Biomanufacturing Training and Education Initiative, the Office of Research Development is facilitating equipment acquisition to support research and teaching activities in biomanufacturing, related biosciences and enabling technologies.

A total of $1 million was available and departments/colleges must provide a 25% match in addition to the requested funds.

Successful proposals include:

  • Incucyte live cell analysis system — Anna Zolkiewska, department of biochemistry and molecular biophysics.
  • CosMx spatial molecular imager NanoString — Laura Miller, department of diagnostic medicine/pathobiology.
  • Seahorse XF ProAnalyzer — Stephanie Hall, department of anatomy and physiology.
  • Waters Xevo TQ absolute liquid chromatography — mass spectroscopy system — Hans Coetzee, College of Veterinary Medicine.

All the instruments will be placed in core or shared-use facilities and will be available for use by researchers across campus.

"These four instrument systems will greatly expand our research capabilities in the biosciences," said Beth Montelone, senior associate vice president for research.
