CNAP to host presentation about securing NIH extramural funding

Submitted by Morgan Wills

Headshot of CNAP hosted brown bag speaker, Cynthia Chestek.

K-State's NIH-funded Phase II COBRE Center for Cognitive and Neurobiological Approaches to Plasticity, or CNAP, invites you to attend a brown bag presentation about securing NIH extramural funding.

The presentation, "NIH Grant writing: It's a Marathon, not a Sprint," will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 28, in Room 498 of Bluemont Hall, or via Zoom, Meeting ID: 980 1196 9321. In-person attendance is limited to the first 35 registrants. Please RSVP online

CNAP's presenter, Cynthia A. Chestek, is an associate professor of biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, neuroscience and robotics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is the recipient of several NIH awards, including multiple R01s. Chestek received her doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 2010. Her NIH award dollars are purposed largely toward her Cortical Neural Prosthetics Lab, which focuses on brain and nerve control of finger movements as well as high-density carbon fiber electrode arrays. Chestek is the author of 87 full-length scientific articles. Her research interests include high-density interfaces to the nervous system for the control of multiple degree of freedom hand and finger movements.

This presentation is part of CNAP's weekly brown bag series and effort to promote a rich research climate. Attendees are invited to bring a sack lunch.
