Welcome new reference and instruction specialist to K-State Libraries

Submitted by Cailin Wycoff

Prior to coming to the Libraries, Jacobs held positions with the Kansas Historical Society First Territorial Capitol, along with the Riley County Historical Museum.

The Richard L. D. and Marjorie J. Morse Department of Special Collections at K-State Libraries has hired Haileigh Jacobs as the reference and instruction specialist.

In this role, Jacobs will coordinate the department's support for researchers and using archives and special collections in instruction. She also will manage daily operations of the reading room and the Kenneth S. Davis Seminar Room. She will also explore opportunities to improve delivery and implementation of reference and instruction needs. In particular, Jacobs will work with the department planning team to increase engagement with primary sources and other holdings in special collections and university archives.

Prior to coming to the Libraries, Jacobs held positions with the Kansas Historical Society First Territorial Capitol, along with the Riley County Historical Museum.

"We are incredibly pleased to have Haileigh join our department," said Cliff Hight, department head. "She brings a breadth of experience that will help us contribute to accomplishing K-State Libraries' strategic priorities. Her arrival also allows us to expand the open hours of our reading room and increases our capacity to support teaching, learning and engagement at K-State."

Jacobs holds a Master of Arts in public history, and a Bachelor of General Studies in theatre and history, both from Fort Hays State University.
