A November to remember with art, music, dance and more at Kansas State University

MANHATTAN — Student music, dance and theatrical performances, faculty recitals and special guest performers will highlight November at Kansas State University.
The following events, sponsored by the McCain Performance Series, Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art and the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, are all free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
• Fall 2017 exhibitions available in November at the Beach Museum of Art include "Thrift Style," which runs through Dec. 16 in the Ruth Ann Wefald Gallery; "Ubiquitous: Enrico Isamu Ōyama," which runs through Dec. 23 in the Hyle Family Gallery; "Reclaimed Creations: Sayaka Ganz," which runs through Dec. 9 in the Marion Pelton Gallery; and “Fronteras/Frontiers,” which runs through April 1, 2018, in the Donna Lindsay Vanier Gallery.
• Robert Spring, clarinet, and J.B. Smith, percussion, will perform as the Desert Edge Duo at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, in McCain Auditorium's Kirmser Hall.
• Explore and celebrate the traditions of Dia De Los Muertos/Day of the Dead and enjoy light refreshments at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Beach Museum of Art.
• The violin studio recital "Hands Across the Water," highlighting British and American composers, will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, in All Faiths Chapel.
• Beatlemania comes to the McCain Performance Series with "The Fab Four: The Ultimate Tribute" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, in McCain Auditorium. Tickets are available at the McCain Auditorium box office, online at k-state.edu/mccain, or by calling 785-532-6428.
• K-State Theatre will present the musical "Into the Woods," by Stephan Sondheim and James Lapine, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2-4 and 9-11 and 2:30 p.m. Nov. 5 and 12 in the Mark A. Chapman Theatre at Nichols Hall. Tickets are $19.50 for the general public; $17.50 for seniors, military, faculty and staff; and $14 for students and youth. • The K-State Horn Ensemble recital will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, in McCain Auditorium's Kirmser Hall.
• The K-State Concert Choir and the Junction City High School Concert Choir combine for a choral concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, 731 Pierre St., Manhattan.
• The saxophone studio recital will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, in McCain Auditorium's Kirmser Hall.
• A new music celebration will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, in All Faiths Chapel.
• The Konza Wind Quintet will perform a faculty artist recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, in All Faiths Chapel.
• Don't miss artist Sayaka Ganz talk about the environmental concerns that motivated her to incorporate discarded plastic objects in her exhibition of wildlife sculptures "Reclaimed Creations," now on display at the Beach Museum of Art. The talk will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the museum, with a reception following.
• The public may observe Madeleine Mitchell, violin professor at London's Royal College of Music, teach students from the studio of Cora Cooper, professor of violin, at a public forum at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in All Faiths Chapel.
• "One-Man Star Wars Trilogy," written and performed by Charles Ross, will be presented at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at the Wareham Opera House. • The Conspiratus Brass recital will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in All Faiths Chapel.

• The K-State Percussion Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov.14, in All Faiths Chapel.
• The Sticks and Strings recital will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, in McCain's Auditorium's Kirmser Hall.
• The November General Student Recital will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in All Faiths Chapel.
• Agustin Muriago, instructor of piano, will present a faculty artist recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in All Faiths Chapel.
• Lew Lipnick, a contrabassoonist with the National Symphony Orchestra, will perform a guest artist recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, in All Faiths Chapel.
• The Pride of Wildcat Land, the Kansas State University Marching Band, will perform its annual concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, in Ahearn Field House.
• A recital by the Flute and Trombone ensembles will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, in All Faiths Chapel.
• K-State music faculty will perform "The Music of Reena Esmail" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in All Faiths Chapel.
• The K-State Jazz Combos will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in the Union's Wildcat Chambers.
• Visit the exhibitions "Thrift Style" and "Reclaimed Creations" at the USD 383 21st-Century Community Learning Center Open House from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Beach Museum of Art.
• The oboe studio recital will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, in McCain Auditorium's Kirmser Hall.
• The K-State Faculty Brass Quintet will present a faculty artist recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, in All Faiths Chapel.
• Collegium "Messiah" will be presented at 7:30 on Thursday Nov. 30; location to be determined.
• WinterDance '17 will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 and 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Mark A. Chapman Theatre in Nichols Hall. Featuring jazz, tap, modern and African dance, students will showcase original pieces choreographed by dance faculty.
