Carl R. Ice College of Engineering announces 2024 Ice Scholars

MANHATTAN — The Carl R. Ice College of Engineering at Kansas State University has announced its 2024 Ice Scholars, a group of select outstanding high school students who plan to major in engineering at the university.
The eight incoming freshmen honored as Ice Scholars will potentially receive a total of $30,000 during four years in addition to any other university scholarship awards. The renewable award is designated for high-achieving, highly involved student scholars and is the largest scholarship award made by the college.
Finalists participated in an on-campus interview as part of the application process, and they were selected by a committee of college faculty and staff members.
"These eight outstanding students are fantastic additions to our fall 2024 freshman class," said Gary Clark, senior associate dean and professor in the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering. "We are very excited to welcome them to campus this fall."
The following high school seniors, listed with their chosen fields of study, are the 2024 Ice Scholars:
Liam Stewart, mechanical engineering, Blue Valley High School, Overland Park; Ryan Uphaus, chemical engineering, Nemaha Central High School, Seneca.
From out of state: Myah Frashier, biomedical engineering, Lee's Summit North High School, Lake Lotawana, Missouri; Will Mason, engineering, Lawson High School, Lawson, Missouri; Connor Blackford, civil engineering, Maryville High School, Maryville, Missouri; Ellery Potts, architectural engineering, Lincoln Southwest High School, Lincoln, Nebraska; Sam Newitt, computer science, Roosevelt High School, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Micah Davidson-Grow, biomedical engineering, Flower Mound High School, Flower Mound, Texas.
