U.S. News & World Report ranks Kansas State University among best online programs

MANHATTAN — Kansas State University's online programs were recognized for excellence in six categories in U.S. News & World Report's 2024 Best Online Programs Rankings. K-State's rankings rose in almost all categories in 2024.

"These rankings confirm that Kansas State University is on its way to implementing its Next-Gen strategic plan to innovate and deliver programs to lifelong learners that are in alignment with what they want and need for future success," said Debbie Mercer, interim provost and executive vice president. "We will continue to expand and enhance our online program offerings to offer high-quality educational options to students across the globe."

U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 1,600 online bachelor's and master's degree programs to determine the rankings, analyzing program effectiveness in a variety of areas, including student engagement, faculty credentials, and student services and technology. Online programs were also ranked for how effectively they serve veterans.

K-State's online master's programs in business, which include the Master of Science in Data Analytics and Master of Accountancy, jumped from No. 43 to No. 9 nationally, the highest ranking ever. Also making notable strides was the online master's in education, moving from No. 16 to No. 12 nationally and holding strong at No. 3 for veterans.

K-State's online bachelor's programs moved up from No. 39 to No. 32 nationally and up three to No. 20 for veterans. Online bachelor's programs in business rose from No. 24 to No. 23.

"Kansas State University's online bachelor's degree programs are ranked best in the state of Kansas, and this exceptional online education experience is available to students across the state, nation and worldwide," said Karen Pedersen, dean of K-State Global Campus.

K-State currently offers more than 150 online degree options taught by the same faculty as their on-campus programs. Flexible class times and strong academic support services make K-State's online degrees a popular option for people from all walks of life.

The full list of K-State's U.S. News & World Report program rankings for 2024 include:

• Online bachelor's programs — No. 32 nationally, No. 20 for veterans.
• Online bachelor's programs in business — No. 23 nationally.
• Online MBA programs — No. 18 nationally, No. 16 for veterans.
• Online master's programs in business (excluding MBA) — No. 9 nationally.
• Online master's in education — No. 12 nationally, No. 3 for veterans.
• Online master’s in engineering — No. 23 nationally, No. 15 for veterans.
