K-State students to serve as speakers, musicians at spring 2024 commencement ceremonies

MANHATTAN — Even though some of them are walking across the graduation stage themselves, several Kansas State University students are taking active roles in this spring's commencement ceremonies.

The students will sing, play instruments and deliver addresses for thousands of K-State degree candidates in spring 2024.

• Roxana Linares, senior in aeronautical technology, Arkansas City, will give the student address and serve as student marshal at commencement for K-State Salina.

• Hayley Piroutek, bachelor's candidate in hospitality management, Belleville, will sing the national anthem and alma mater at commencement for the College of Health and Human Sciences.

• Isaac Florez, senior in music education, Bonner Springs, will sing the national anthem and alma mater at the commencement ceremony for the College of Arts and Sciences.

• Jade Valdez-Gomez, bachelor's candidate in human nutrition and dietetics, Garden City, will deliver the student address at commencement for the College of Health and Human Sciences.

• Avanelle Stoltz, bachelor's candidate in biological systems engineering, Leawood, will deliver the student address at commencement for the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering.

• Claire Severance, senior in music education, Lenexa, will sing the national anthem and alma mater at the College of Education's commencement ceremony.

• Ashley Chandler, bachelor's candidate in agronomy, Manhattan, will be the student commencement speaker for the College of Agriculture.

• Melissa Hill, fourth-year veterinary medicine student, Manhattan, will give the student address at the College of Veterinary Medicine's commencement ceremony.

• John Christopher Melton, master's student in music, Manhattan, will sing the national anthem and alma mater at the Graduate School commencement ceremony.

• David Ochner, bachelor's candidate in electrical engineering, Manhattan, will be the organist at commencement for the Graduate School and the College of Veterinary Medicine.

• Brittany Taylor, senior in applied music, Olathe, will sing the national anthem and alma mater at the College of Business Administration's commencement ceremony.

• Joseph Fortino, senior in computer engineering, Olathe, will be the organist at commencement for the College of Agriculture and the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering.

• Hattie Polson, bachelor's candidate in agricultural economics, Vermillion, will deliver reflections at the College of Agriculture commencement ceremony.

• Josephine Benson, sophomore in English, Wamego, will be the organist at commencement for the College of Education and the College of Business Administration.

• Kelsey Wilson, bachelor's candidate in secondary biology education, Wichita, will deliver the student commencement address for the College of Education.

• Libby Couture, master's candidate in architecture, Fort Collins, Colorado; Kaitlyn Fye, master's candidate in interior architecture, Bellevue, Nebraska; Jordan Janay Young, master's candidate in industrial design, St. Louis, Missouri; Blaine Hupe, master's candidate in landscape architecture, Wamego; and Gage Roberts, master's candidate in regional and community planning, Salina, will deliver student remarks at the commencement ceremony for the College of Architecture, Planning & Design.

• Palak Shah, doctoral candidate in veterinary medicine, Naperville, Illinois, will sing the national anthem at commencement for the College of Veterinary Medicine.

• Negil McPherson, bachelor's candidate in marketing, Omaha, Nebraska, will deliver student remarks at the commencement ceremony for the College of Business Administration.

• Air Force ROTC Detachment 270 commissioning ceremony, 8 a.m., K-State Student Union Forum Hall
• Army ROTC Wildcat Battalion commissioning ceremony, 10:30 a.m., K-State Student Union Forum Hall
• Graduate School, 1 p.m., Bramlage Coliseum
• College of Veterinary Medicine, 3:30 p.m., Bramlage Coliseum

May 11
• College of Arts and Sciences, 8:30 a.m., Bramlage Coliseum.
• College of Architecture, Planning & Design, 10 a.m., McCain Auditorium
• College of Education, 11 a.m., Bramlage Coliseum.
• College of Business Administration, 12:30 p.m., Bramlage Coliseum.
• College of Agriculture, 2:30 p.m., Bramlage Coliseum.
