MANHATTAN — Kansas State University's Carl R. Ice College of Engineering is honoring Kiewit as its 2024 Company of the Year. This annual selection is based on exhibited commitment to engineering education as well as high standards and quality performance in the engineering profession.
Kiewit is one of North America's largest and most respected construction and engineering organizations. With roots dating back to 1884, the employee-owned organization operates through a network of subsidiaries in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Kiewit offers construction and engineering services in a variety of markets, including the transportation, power, building, water, marine, industrial, mining, and oil, gas and chemical markets.
Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, Kiewit works on some of the industry's most complex, challenging and rewarding projects.
"It is a privilege to recognize Kiewit as our 2024 Company of the Year," said Matt O’Keefe, dean of the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering. "We value Kiewit's help in providing academic and career support to our students and graduates and also for partnering with us as we look to achieve our goal of becoming a next-generation land-grant university."
Kiewit has worked alongside the college for many years through a variety of corporate partnership opportunities, most recently the Engineering Leadership and Innovation program. The company also hosts recruitment events for prospective students at its facilities, regularly offers K-State students internships and hires graduates from the college.
"Being named Company of the Year by the K-State Carl R. Ice College of Engineering is an honor we're very proud of at Kiewit," said Kevin Needham, president of Kiewit Power Engineering. "K-State students continue to impress us with their strong talent and readiness to take on real-world challenges. Watching these interns and young professionals grow and succeed in our company is a testament to the great foundation they receive at K-State."
Needham said he expects to continue partnering alongside the college for the foreseeable future.
"With more than 300 K-State alumni at Kiewit, this recognition is especially meaningful to us," he said. "We look forward to continuing our strong partnership as we work together to support engineering students and their futures."
Kiewit will be honored as part of the college's career fair reception at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the Engineering Hall atrium.
