MANHATTAN — Nineteen Kansas State University students have been selected to join the K-State Libraries Student Ambassadors. The ambassadors help promote and advocate for all libraries at the university, including Hale Library.
The new ambassadors will serve two-year terms as representatives for K-State Libraries at social, cultural and recruitment activities. They join 18 students currently serving as ambassadors. The ambassadors provide valuable feedback on K-State Libraries' initiatives as well as services for the university student body. As ambassadors, the students learn leadership skills and have the opportunity to make a positive impact at the university.
The ambassadors were chosen following an application process and finalist interviews. The interview committee included ambassador advisers and academic services librarians Sara K. Kearns, Dan Ireton and Carol Sevin, and three current ambassadors.
“Every year, my fellow advisors and I have high expectations for our incoming ambassadors, and every year those expectations are exceeded,” Ireton said. “The drive and passion these students bring to the organization is absolutely electrifying and we're so excited to see what they come up with next.”
One upcoming project for the ambassadors is the Where the Wildcats Are Book Club. The ambassadors organized the bimonthly book club meetings and chose the book selections. The first book club meeting for the spring semester will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, in the Hale Library second-floor living room. The event is open to all students and the selected read is “Vicious” by V.E. Schwab. Additional dates can be found on the Libraries events webpage.
