Pianist, professor Slawomir Dobrzanski highlights Friends of K-State Libraries event

MANHATTAN — Start the month of May on the right note by enjoying music, dessert and wine with your friends at an encore piano performance by Slawomir Dobrzanski, associate professor of music at Kansas State University.
The event is presented by the Friends of K-State Libraries at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 1, in Hale Library's Hemisphere Room.
Dobrzanski will play Franz Liszt's "Sonnets of Petrarch No. 123, S.161 No. 5" and the "Sonnets of Petrarch No. 104, S.161 No.4." Concert-goers also will hear Petrarch's poetry recited as the Liszt piano composition is played. Deepak Prem Subramony will be the narrator. Dobrzanski will also play music by Mozart, Chopin and Komitas.
Dobrzanski teaches applied piano, chamber music and piano literature at Kansas State University. As a soloist and chamber musician, he often performs in Asia, Europe, South America and throughout the United States and Canada.
He is a graduate of the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland, and the University of Connecticut, where he received a Doctor of Musical Arts in 2001.
