College of Engineering selects 21 seniors for Steel Ring membership

MANHATTAN — The Kansas State University College of Engineering Steel Ring Honorary Society has chosen its members for the 2016-2017 academic year. The 21 seniors were inducted into membership April 21.
Steel Ring membership is based on leadership, scholarship and social capabilities. New members are selected by current members of Steel Ring following a written application and personal interview process. One of the group's primary tasks each year is planning and organizing the College of Engineering Open House in the spring semester.
During the recent 2016 Open House, the inductees shadowed current members to learn the roles and responsibilities of the organization for the annual event. Faculty adviser for the group is Craig Wanklyn, assistant dean for recruitment in the college.
The following are the new members of Steel Ring:

From Greater Kansas City: Maggie Meyer, chemical engineering, Lenexa; Whitney Cox, electrical engineering, Olathe; Kaitlyn Barnes, biological systems engineering, and Gabrielle Lobo, industrial engineering, both from Overland Park; and Sarah Newell, industrial engineering, and Megan Richards, biological systems engineering, both from Stilwell.
Alonso Talamantes, industrial engineering, Hutchinson; Larissa Dettmer, industrial engineering, Kensington; Riley Hay, chemical engineering, Liberal; Miriam Cox, information systems, Manhattan; Sage Ratliff, mechanical engineering, Phillipsburg; Aaron Spicer, chemical engineering, Topeka; Lawryn Edmonds, electrical engineering, Valley Falls; and Blake Ronnebaum, chemical engineering, Wichita.
