The Chieftains performing March 10 at McCain Auditorium

Friday, Feb. 27, 2015

MANHATTAN — The McCain Performance Series at Kansas State University will be host to the six-time Grammy winners The Chieftains at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in McCain Auditorium.

Paddy Moloney formed The Chieftains in 1962 from the ranks of the top folk musicians in Ireland. The Chieftains are recognized for bringing traditional Irish music to the world's attention. Although the group's early following was purely a folk audience, the range and variation of The Chieftains music quickly captured a much broader public, making the group the best-known Irish band in the world today.

The Chieftains have performed with many symphony and folk orchestras worldwide, and have broken many musical boundaries by collaborating and performing with some of the biggest names in rock, pop and traditional music, including the Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, Alison Krauss, Bon Iver, The Decemberists and many others.

Tickets for The Chieftains start at $14.50, plus applicable taxes and fees, and are available now at the McCain Auditorium box office, online at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain, or by calling 785-532-6428.
