International Fashion Show features culture from around the world

MANHATTAN -- The community is invited to enjoy an evening of dance, music, fashion and fun from around the world -- all at Kansas State University.
The 45th annual International Fashion Show will take place at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Forum Hall in the K-State Student Union. The event is sponsored each year by the World Friendship and International Coordinating Council as part of the university's International Week. The council is a women's organization for international students and their spouses.
This year, the fashion show's theme is "World Friendship Starts with You and Me." Models from around the world will wear their culture's traditional clothes from both modern and past eras. The show will include models from Bangladesh, the Philippines, Thailand, China and countries throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and North America. Those planning to attend also can look forward to cultural performances and dancing.
Stefanie Van Wagenen, coordinator of the fashion show and member of the World Friendship Council, said admission to the event is free and it is a fun event for the whole family.
"This wonderful event is a great chance to learn about different cultures," said Van Wagenen. "You don't necessarily have to travel to learn about other parts of the world -- you can do so right here in Manhattan."
