NAfME Collegiate
Music Education- Orchestrating Success
NAfME Collegiate is open to all Music Education students at K-State. NAfME stands for the National Association for Music Education, formerly known as MENC (Music Educator's National Conference). Student of all musical concentrations are encouraged to participate in NAfME Collegiate because there are many benefits of membership including educational journals, networking, educational opportunities and supplementary memberships in groups such as American Bandmasters Association (ABA), American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and the American String Teachers Association (ASTA).
K-State members automatically become members of the Kansas Music Educators Association, (KMEA), and are encouraged to attend their annual In-Service Workshop every February in Wichita, Kansas. On campus, members attend meetings featuring guest speakers of professionals in the field of Music Education. We also put on fundraisers, provide free tutoring for music classes and host Future Music Educator's Day for high school students interested in majoring in Music Education.
Anyone interested in membership should email ksunafmec@gmail.com with further questions!
