Agreements
Kansas State University has agreements with many universities and institutions in South Asia. All have been initiated by KSU faculty and departments who have research, programmatic interests and other linkages with these institutions.
INDIA
ACHARYA N.G. RANGA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY (ANGRAU), Rajendranagar, Andhra Pradesh (outside Hyderabad). Kansas State has had a long connection with ANGRAU starting in the 1960's when it was Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU). KSU worked with then APAU to build up its agricultural program for several decades under funding from the US Agency for International Development. In recent years activity has taken place primarily with the KSU Food Science program.
ANDHRA UNIVERSITY (AP), Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. AP is a large comprehensive university located on the northern coast of the state of Andhra Pradesh. KSU has two agreements with AP: a general research MoU and a reciprocal student exchange agreement. Both these agreements were initiated by KSU faculty in the Department of Diagnostic Medicine and Pathobiology in the College of Veterinary Science.
BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE (BITS), Pilani, Rajasthan. BITS is India's leading private engineering university founded by the Birla family, a leading industrial house since the early 20th century. BITS has four campuses: Pilani, Rajasthan; Goa; Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh; Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This agreement was initiated by KSU faculty in the Dept. of Electrical Engineering.
CHAUDHARY SARVAN KUMAR HIMACHAL PRADESH AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. Located in the Shivalik foothills of the Himalayas, the university focuses on hill agriculture and animal science. This agreement was initiated by KSU Faculty in Food Science. It has hosted a faculty led study abroad program in Food Science.
DEHRADUN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (DIT), Dehradun, Uttarakhand. DIT is a new university focusing on Engineering, IT, Pharmacy and Architecture. The facilities and dormitories are outstanding and the university is located in the very picturesque Himalayan foothills along the road from Dehradun to Mussorie. This agreement was initiated by KSU faculty in Civil and Electrical Engineering and has hosted several joint Engineering Without Borders projects with the KSU College of Engineering. This is a sister university with the Institute of Management Studies (below) that shares an abutting campus. DIT was established to be the leader for engineering training in the newly established state of Uttarakhand that was created from the hilly regions of the state of Uttar Pradesh in 2000, with Dehradun the capital.
GUJARAT TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY (GTU), Ahmedabad, Gujarat. GTU is a leading engineering university in the state of Gujarat. The agreement was initiated by KSU faculty in Mechanical Engineering with the initial purpose of bringing GTU graduate students to KSU for special summer workshops.
INDIAN COUNCIL OF AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH (ICAR), New Delhi. ICAR is the advisory council to Government of India on all things agricultural, is the main funding organization for agricultural universities and research and coordinates numerous All-India research programs on selected topics dealing with crops, pests, diseases and agro-climatic conditions. This agreement was initiated by the KSU College of Agriculture.
INDIAN INSTITUTE OF CROP PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY (IICPT), IICPT is the premier research and development institute in India for crop processing technology. It is organized under the Ministry of Food Processing, Government of India. Several KSU faculty in the Food Science program have research links, training projects and workshops with IICPT. This agreement was initiated by KSU faculty in Grain Science.
INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES (IMS) - DEHRADUN, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. IMS is the sister campus of the Dehradun Institute of Technology (above) It has four schools: Management, Information Technology, Law and Mass Communications. IMS was established to be the leader for business training in the newly established state of Uttarakhand that was created from the hilly regions of the state of Uttar Pradesh in 2000, with Dehradun the capital.
INTERNATIONAL CROPS RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR THE SEMI-ARID TROPICS (ICRISAT), Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh. ICRISAT is one of many worldwide crop research institutes funded by the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research that focus on individual crops and agro-climatic zones of the world. ICRISAT's mission focuses on dryland crops of pigeon pea, chickpea, groundnut (peanut), pearl millet, sorghum and small millets. A number of KSU faculty have had research projects with ICRISAT as well as consultancies. This agreement was initiated by faculty in the KSU Department of Agronomy.
JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY - HYDERABAD, JNTU is primarily an engineering university. This agreement was initiated by faculty in the KSU Department of Civil Engineering.
KARNATAKA VETERINARY, ANIMAL AND FISHERIES UNIVERSITY - BIDAR, Bidar, Karnatak. This agreement was initiated by KSU faculty in the Department of Diagnostics and Pathobiology in the College of Veterinarian Medicine.
MAHARANA PRATAP UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE AND TECHNOLOGY, Udaipur, Rajasthan. MPUAT is a large university in the state of Rajasthan and is located in the very picturesque city of Udaipur where many Hollywood and Bollywood films have been shot. It has faculties of Agriculture, Home Science, Engineering, Dairy and Food Science, Fisheries and Horticulture/Forestry. This agreement was initiated by faculty in the KSU College of Agriculture and the Department of Grain Science.
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FOOD TECHNOLOGY ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND MANAGEMENT, Kundli, Sonipat District, Haryana. NIFTEM is a new institute established under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. The campus is in process of completion and will have both academic training and world class research facilities for food technology and management. This agreement was initiated by faculty in the KSU Department of Grain Science, the Food Science Institute and the College of Agriculture.
OSMANIA UNIVERSITY, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Osmania is a large, established comprehensive university with faculties in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, business and engineering. Osmania also has a Centre for International Programmes that actively promotes and facilitates international linkages and activities. Osmania has hosted several programs and workshops with KSU faculty and has an American Studies program with one of the best libraries of US related materials in Asia. This agreement was initiated by the Office of International Programs with the participation of faculty across KSU colleges.
PRATHISTHA INDUSTRIES, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Prathista Industries is a leading manufacturer of organic agricultural inputs. It has divisions in Europe, the US and is setting up a manufacturing plant close to the Manhattan Regional Airport close to KSU. This agreement was initiated by faculty in the College of Agriculture.
PUNJAB AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY(PAU), Ludhiana, Punjab. PAU is one of the leading agricultural universities in India and has spearheaded successful research for India's Green Revolution. Many KSU faculty have research and collaborative ties with PAU and the university has also hosted groups of KSU students on study abroad. This agreement was initiated by the KSU Dean of Agriculture and other KSU faculty in the College of Agriculture.
SRI VENKATESWARA VETERINARY UNIVERSITY, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. This agreement focuses on faculty-faculty linkages and student exchange. It was initiated by the College of Veterinary Medicine and faculty in the Department of Diagnostics and Pathobiology.
ST. ANN'S COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. St Ann's was founded in 1983 by the Sisters, Society of St Ann, to promote the higher education of women, particularly in the professional fields. KSU and St Ann's have had several faculty visits and workshops. This agreement was initiated by faculty in the KSU Department of Women's Studies.
TAMILNADU AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY (TAU), Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. TAU is a leading agricultural university in South India. KSU faculty from the College of Agriculture and the Dept. of Bio-Chemistry have had a continuous relationship with faculty at TAU for many years, including joint research ventures and faculty visits between the two universities. This agreement initiated by the College of Agriculture formalizes the relationship.
UNIVERSITY OF ALLAHABAD, CENTRE OF FOOD TECHNOLOGY, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. The University of Allahabad is the 4th oldest university in India, founded in 1887. The University as a whole is a large, comprehensive university with the full complement of faculties in the sciences, social sciences, humanities, law and commerce. This agreement was initiated by KSU faculty in the the Food Science program.
UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE - RAICHUR, Raichur, Karnataka. Raichur is a new university, founded in 2008 and expanding a research institute founded in the 1930's focusing on the development of irrigated agriculture. This agreement was initiated by faculty in the KSU College of Agriculture.
NEPAL
TRIBHUVAN UNIVERSITY, Kathmandu, Nepal. Tribhuvan is the first national university established in Nepal, 1959. It is a comprehensive university with several institutes in the sciences and applied fields. KSU has hosted many students from this university pursuing advanced degrees. This agreement was initiated by KSU faculty in the Department of Chemistry.
PAKISTAN
UNIVERSITY OF THE PUNJAB - LAHORE, Lahore, Punjab. The University of the Punjab was established in 1882 and is the oldest and largest university in Pakistan. It is a comprehensive university with all faculties and boasts two Nobel laureates, one faculty for physics and one alum in Medicine. KSU has hosted many students from this university for advanced degrees. This agreement was initiated by the KSU Department of Physics.
