What We Do
The vision of the Kansas State University (KSU) Feed the Future Sustainable Intensification Innovation Lab (SIIL) is to become the global leader in interdisciplinary research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building on sustainable intensification producing measurable impacts on reducing global hunger and poverty, and improving the nutrition of smallholder farmers.
This vision will be achieved through carefully crafting an integrated research portfolio on focal value chains through active partnerships and consultations with host-country networks of farmers, government and non-government agencies, private organizations, national and international research centers, university systems, and other stakeholders. Our objectives are to develop research and capacity-building portfolios in collaboration with US universities and international research organizations on activities related to sustainable intensification, and to sustainably increase agricultural productivity and income that provides food and nutritional security to smallholder farmers in Africa and Asia while maintaining a strong focus on integrated farming systems research.
