Oct. 3 brown bag lunch: Making the Right Moves with Victoria McGovern
Receive a free copy of "Making the Right Moves: A Practical Guide to Scientific Management for Postdocs and New Faculty" when you attend the New Faculty Institute brown bag luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in the Flint Hills Room of the Student Union. New faculty in STEM areas are encouraged to come and participate in this event.
“Making the Right Moves: A Practical Guide to Scientific Management for Postdocs and New Faculty” is a collection of practical advice and experiences from seasoned biomedical investigators and includes chapters on laboratory leadership, getting funded, project management, teaching and course design. Victoria McGovern, senior program officer for Burroughs Wellcome Fund, will discuss the book and the useful guidance it gives for new faculty in STEM areas.
This luncheon is sponsored by the New Faculty Institute, a universitywide program to introduce newly hired faculty to our missions of teaching, research and service, and to facilitate their success at K-State.
The New Faculty Institute will offer information, networking, training and peer mentoring. The institute facilitates the transition of newly-hired faculty members into the K-State academic environment by providing information and tools that can help them become successful as educators and researchers at Kansas State University.
For more information, contact Esther Swilley, New Faculty Institute coordinator, at esthers@k-state.edu, or Jana Fallin, director for the Center for Teaching and Learning, at 785-532-7828.
Please RSVP by Oct. 1 in order to receive your free copy.
We look forward to seeing you!
