Submitted by Thom Jackson

Works by Kansas State University College of Architecture, Planning & Design students participating in spring and summer 2013 study abroad programs are on display through Oct. 4 in the Chang Gallery and the first floor hallway of the east wing of Seaton Hall.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. The gallery is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Students in the college's degree-granting programs are given the option of participating in study abroad during and following their fourth year. In spring and summer 2013, 80 students in the college studied abroad.

According to Lynn Ewanow, associate dean and director of international programs for the college, students in architecture, interior architecture & product design, landscape architecture, and regional & community planning are particularly well served by studying abroad. She said the experience of living and studying in unfamiliar environments heightens cultural and historical awareness; improves self-reliance; encourages better understanding of global economics, politics and societies; and broadens professional horizons.

"The College of Architecture, Planning & Design is committed to enhancing the study abroad experience for its students and supporting the emphasis on international education, which is part of K-State's strategic plan," Ewanow said.
