Maximizing our work to create access and success for our community
Dear K-State community,
In October, I shared our initiative to enhance our efforts in creating an environment where everyone can thrive. To truly thrive, we must focus on success, well-being and a sense of belonging across our entire K-State community.
I am pleased to report that the committee focusing on how we can maximize our work to create access and success for our community has completed the first phase of their review. During this phase, the 20 committee members met to discuss the rationale, history and potential ideas for aligning our work with the values of our land-grant mission and the Next-Gen K-State vision. They engaged with a variety of campus stakeholders, gathered input and began exploring ways to strengthen our current initiatives.
As part of this first phase, the committee proposed three suggestions for office names that they felt would best represent our office and our core values. These options were submitted to the president and cabinet, who selected the name that most strongly supports our mission.
I am excited to share that our office will officially be known as the Office of Access and Opportunity, effective today.
In the next phase, the committee will continue its work to explore how we can better serve our community under our new name. The focus will be on maximizing the positive impact of our work in supporting students, faculty and staff success, and enhancing the overall K-State experience.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the committee for their dedication and work in making our environment more inclusive, welcoming and supportive. Their efforts will help ensure that the work we do will continue to create growth and success for everyone within our vibrant academic and social community.
Our commitment to expanding access to opportunities and outcomes, creating spaces where all voices are heard and valued, and ensuring that everyone feels part of the K-State community remains stronger than ever.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to making Kansas State University a place where everyone belongs, everyone is included and everyone succeeds.
