The New Faculty Institute will host a virtual event from 4-5 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 11: "Building a Sustainable Writing Practice" led by Rebecca Barrett-Fox.

Academic writing is hard — and it's often lonely! Join this session to learn how to create a writing practice that can withstand the challenges of academic life and become a source of pleasure.

Share what is already working for you as a writer and learn from others. Leave with new strategies — and perhaps a new orientation to your work.

This event will take place via Zoom.

The New Faculty Institute is a universitywide program hosted by the Teaching and Learning Center to introduce newly hired faculty to K-State's missions of teaching, research and service. The institute provides networking and professional development opportunities to assist new faculty in becoming successful educators and researchers at Kansas State University.

The K-State New Faculty Institute will help participants:

  • Make contact, establish relationships and initiate a professional network with peers and established faculty.
  • Become knowledgeable about K-State.
  • Develop a sense of belonging to the K-State community.
  • Take steps toward successful involvement in K-State's missions of teaching, research and service.
  • Become proactive participants in a lifelong professional development process.
