Advisor Forum presents February Charlie Award

Submitted by Chrissie Patry

The K-State Advisor Forum has selected Kimberly Kramer, professor and academic advisor in architectural engineering and construction science, for the February Charlie Award.

Kramer was nominated for this award anonymously for the work she has done to impact K-State students' experiences.

One of her nominators wrote, "Dr. Kramer is one of the most impactful advisors and teachers I have ever had. She has set me up to succeed day one after graduation. She sits down with all her students each semester to plan and/or fix their schedules to set them up for success in the future. She makes sure all her graduate students are on track to graduate and makes sure we fill out the proper forms on time. Without Dr. Kramer's help I would not have graduated with my undergraduate degree or master's degree on time and be setup for success after graduation."

According to another nominator, "Kimberly stands out as an exemplary professor in the ARE department, setting the bar for what it means to be an outstanding advisor. Her continuous dedication, expertise and genuine care for her students set her apart from other advisors both in the department and the academic community. Through her tireless efforts and commitment to excellence, she has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure the success and well-being of her advisees. One of Kimberly's most remarkable attributes is her ability to foster meaningful relationships with her students. She takes the time to sit down and have actual conversations with her advisees and makes an effort to understand their individual goals, aspirations and challenges. Kimberly provides personalized guidance and support every step of the way. Whether it's through regular one-on-one meetings, helping with tough academic queries from classwork or simply lending a sympathetic ear, Kimberly creates a safe environment where students feel confident their worries can be put to rest after a quick meeting. Kimberly's depth of knowledge and expertise in structural and civil engineering are truly exceptional. Her insights and mentorship extend far beyond the classroom, providing an enhanced educational experience for students willing to seek it out. Kimberly has a keen eye for excellence and selects students who have a passion for knowledge to elevate. She consistently pushes her advisees to reach their fullest potential and tries to instill in them a love of learning and discovery."

The K-State Advisor Forum thanks Kramer for the work she has done and congratulates her on this award.
