Buyle receives AGC of Kansas Construction Industry Leadership Award

Submitted by Grant Guggisberg

Ray Buyle, professor and department head in the GE Johnson Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science, received the Associated General Contractors of Kansas Construction Industry Leadership Award at the organization's annual dinner on Jan. 10 in Wichita.

During his time at K-State, Buyle has been actively involved in the Associated General Contractors student chapter and served 12 years as the Kansas State University board member for the AGC of Kansas board of directors. One of his major accomplishments as the advisor to the AGC student chapter was organizing student-centric construction service projects in various states, showcasing his dedication to community engagement and student development.

"My affiliation with AGC of Kansas has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career," Buyle said. "As a new faculty member, I quickly learned of the tremendous support from AGC for our students and faculty, not just in terms of scholarships and awards, but also their dedication to giving back in the classroom and outside of the classroom."

Buyle said the organization played a major role in his success as an instructor and head of the department.

"Some of my fondest memories during my time at K-State involve the opportunities that I had with the AGC student chapter on local service projects and alternative break service projects around the country, as well as at state and national AGC conventions," he said. "None of this would've been possible without the support of AGC of Kansas."
