Got hip-hop: Delrow to discuss influence of hip-hop lyrics
Kansas State University's Beta Alpha chapter of Triota invites you to come listen to Rosa Clemente-Delrow as she discusses sexual violence against women and the influence of misogynistic hip-hop lyrics on U.S. culture. Delrow will speak at 4 p.m. today on the second floor of the K-State Student Union in the KSU Ballroom West. This event is free and open to the public.
Clemente-Delrow has many roles including, a grassroots community organizer, independent journalist and scholar who consults on issues such as hip-hop activism, media justice, voter engagement among youth of color, third party politics, intercultural relations between African Americans and Latinos, immigrants' rights as an extension of human rights and universal health care.
In 2008, Delrow was nominated by the Green Party as a vice presidential candidate. Along with Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, the pair became the first women of color ticket in American history. She is currently working on obtaining her doctorate and completing her first book, "When a Puerto Rican Woman Ran for Vice President and Nobody Knew Her Name."
