'Be Who You Are — Ready Player One Interactive' event is Wednesday
"Be Who You Are — Ready Player One Interactive" is at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union. It is a chance event inspired by the K-State Book Network's common book "Ready Player One" and the work of Merce Cunningham and John Cage. Audience members create the presentation order of music and dance phrases that have been developed through the performers' creative research.
Based on creative research developed by K-State dance and music students, the event will be an informal lecture and demonstration with opportunities for the audience to participate in a question-and-answer with the creator and performers.
Movement created and performed by Mica Bengtson, Hope Goertzen, Shelly Heinz, Victoria Menear and Jackie Soelter; Music, "Oasis," composed by Joshua de Bonilla; and "Ready Player One Dance Suite," composed by Robert Roth.
At least two versions of the piece will be presented, one to "Oasis" and one to "Ready Player One Dance Suite." If the audience is engaged in creating new sequences, performers may try different versions.
The event is free and should last about an hour.
More information is on the K-State Book Network blog.
