Postage stamp price increase
This is your last week to purchase United States Postal Service Forever postage stamps at the 46 cent rate. The Contract Postal Unit in the west entrance of Dykstra Hall has Forever stamps available for purchase. You can stock up and save this week. If you purchase a sheet or book of stamps this week, the cost is $9.20. With the price increase next week, the price of the same book or sheet will go up to $9.80. Rolls of 100 stamps are also available for $46 this week, but will go up to $49 next week. Now is a good time to stock up on your Forever stamps.
Along with this price increase, for the first time ever the Postal Service has announced a new metered mail rate. While the price of stamps is going up to 49 cents, a first-class letter metered through central mail services will be metered at 48 cents. Starting next week, the new metered rate will always be one cent lower than the approved stamp rate. Also, do not forget that central mail service is still offering metered letters through our presort service and these letters — for both one ounce- and two ounce- letters — will be 43.5 cents per letter.
