Agronomy professor appointed to national carbon research program steering committee
Chuck Rice, university distinguished professor of agronomy, has been appointed to a three-year term on the Scientific Steering Group for the North American Carbon Program, or NACP. The group provides scientific leadership for the program.
The North American Carbon Program is a multidisciplinary research program to obtain a scientific understanding of North America's carbon sources and sinks, and of changes in carbon stocks needed to meet societal concerns and to provide tools for decision-makers. The central objective of the program is to measure and understand the sources and sinks of carbon dioxide, methane, and carbon monoxide in North Amercica and in adjacent ocean regions.
The North American Carbon Program is supported by a number of different federal agencies.
