Russell organizes, participates in national webinar
Eugene Russell, professor emeritus of civil engineering, organized a two-hour Transportation Research Board webinar, "Accommodating Large Trucks at Roundabouts: Concerns and Some Solutions" on March 7.
Russell presented the segment, "Some key conclusions from an 8-State, Pooled Fund Study, Accommodation Oversize Overweight Vehicles at Roundabouts," which was based on a study he conducted as principal investigator and completed in 2013. Kansas, through the Kansas Department of Transportation, was the lead state in the study.
The webinar was sponsored by the Transportation Research Board Roundabouts committee, which Russell chairs. Other presenters were from Arizona, Oregon and Wisconsin. According to Transportation Research Board staff, more than 430 sites with estimated audience of approximately 1,100 people throughout the country were tuned in to the webinar.
