Spotlight K-State announces book list
Spotlight K-State, an evening of innovative ideas shared in meaningful ways, starts at 7 p.m. Monday, March 31, in the K-State Student Union Forum Hall. Registration ends at 5 p.m. Friday, March 28.
Every person attending the event receives a copy of one of the following books:
- "Thinking Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman
- "What the Best College Students Do" by Ken Bain
- "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success" by Carol Dweck
- "Teaching as a Subversive Activity" by Neil Postman
- "The Art of Teaching" by Gilbert Highet
Please register for the free event and we will have a book waiting for you.
At Spotlight K-State, the faculty members presenting six-minute vignettes of outstanding, innovative, creative teaching and learning are:
Steve Dandaneau and James Geary from sociology; Gayle Doll from gerontology; Mike Finnegan from leadership studies; Huston Gibson from landscape architecture/regional & community planning; Keith Hohn from chemical engineering; David Lehman from marketing; Emily Lehning from student life; Don Saucier from psychology; Ben Ward from information technologies and instructional design; and Kim Williams from horticulture.
Each attendee receives one of the books at the end of the program. The evening concludes with a wine and beer reception, all celebrating teaching and learning at K-State.
Spotlight K-State is a collaborative effort created by Jana Fallin, director of Kansas State University's Teaching and Learning Center; Mike Wesch, anthropology; and Chad Jackson, entrepreneurship. President Kirk Schulz is sponsoring the event.
