K-State Inline Hockey Club alumni game and floor hockey game is Saturday
The K-State Inline Hockey Club will hold its annual alumni game at noon on Saturday, April 5, at the multi-activity court, or MAC, gym in the Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex. The current club members will play a team made up of the club alumni. This game will be followed by a floor hockey game with the current team competing against the Iron Rangers, Fort Riley's team from the 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry. This event is free and open to the public.
Floor hockey is basically hockey without skates.
The current team will use both events as a warm up before heading to Philadelphia for the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association's National Invitational Tournament. This tournament will pit the top 20 teams from the nation against each other for the championship. The tournament consists of a three-game round-robin to establish seeding. Our pool consists of K-State, the University of California, Irvine, Kennesaw State and Boston University. The round-robin games begin Wednesday, April 9, and end Thursday, April 10. The single elimination games begin Friday morning and the championship game will be played at noon on Sunday.
This is the third consecutive year that the K-State Inline Hockey Club has qualified for this tournament. The team has a roster that is capable of taking it all, but like any major tournament, anything can happen once it starts.
All games will be streamed live online. More information is available at www.ncrha.org.
