Sigma Xi distinguished lecturer to discuss 'Giant Viruses Change the Perception of Viruses'

The K-State chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society, and the plant pathology department will co-host James Van Etten, William B. Abbington distinguished professor at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln as this year's Sigma Xi fistinguished lecturer. 

He will present the seminar "Giant Viruses Change the Perception of Viruses" at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in 1018 Throckmorton Plant Sciences Center.

Sigma Xi lectures are aimed at the general scientific community. All are welcome to attend. Van Etten also will be speaking at 7 p.m. at Radina's Coffee House in Aggieville as part of the Science Cafe series. His evening topic is "Algae as Candidates for Biofuels."

Van Etten also is a member of the National Academy of Science.
