Burrack publishes book chapter
Submitted by Frederick Burrack
Frederick Burrack, professor of music education in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, recently published a book chapter in "Teacher Music through Performance in Band," Vol. 10, GIA publications.
He analyzed the band composition "Barbarossa" by William Himes, presenting a historical analysis of the composer and composition, theoretical and stylistic analysis of the score, and instructional suggestions for public school teachers. The piece was written to musically represent Operation Barbarossa, the German invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II.
This is Burrack's third contribution to the series, having published chapters in Volume 1 and 9. The books are widely uses by public school teachers and university methods courses across the country.
