Freeland wins first place in annual Kansas Professional Communicators contest

Winners in the 2014 Kansas Professional Communicators contest were announced May 2 at the organization's annual spring conference in Hutchinson.
Gloria Freeland, assistant professor in Kansas State University's A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications, won a first-place award for her online blog, Kansas Snapshots. Her entries from her blog included "Ash to ashes," dated Jan. 18, 2013, and "Treat to trauma," dated Sept. 20, 2013. Freeland has been writing Kansas Snapshots since November 2001.
North Dakota Professional Communicators judged 90 entries, with 37 entries receiving first-place honors and advancing to the National Federation of Press Women communications contest. Winners in the national contest will be awarded at the national conference Sept. 4-6 in Greenville, South Carolina.
The state awards were distributed following a day full of education, skill development and interaction with communication professionals in the Hutchinson area.
