Save the date: Joint Research Experience for Undergraduates poster session on July 31
The public is invited to learn about current research activities at K-State at a joint Research Experience for Undergraduates, or REU, research poster session from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 31, on the second floor of the K-State Student Union in the K/S Ballroom.
The poster session will focus on research completed by undergraduate students and relating to sustainable bioenergy, sustainable energy, climate change, geography, biosecurity, ecology and evolutionary biology, and physics.
Roughly 50 poster presentations will be made by students who have participated in the Summer Academy in Sustainable BioEnergy REU; the Earth, Wind, and Fire: Sustainable Energy for the 21st Century REU; the Climate Change and Mitigation REU program; Chemistry Biosecurity REU; Undergraduate Research and Mentoring in Ecological Genomics, or Biology URM; and the Laser-matter Interactions at the Atomic and Nanoscales: Physics REU. Each of these programs has provided research experiences for undergraduates this summer.
These visiting undergraduates come from across the United States and have worked with faculty and graduate students from the agricultural economics, agronomy, biological and agricultural engineering, biochemistry and molecular biophysics, chemical engineering, chemistry, geography, grain science and industry and physics departments, sociology program and Division of Biology. Funding for the summer research programs has been provided by the National Science Foundation. Awards, sponsored by Phillips 66, will be presented for the best posters. Food and refreshments will be provided by the K-State Center for Sustainable Energy.
