RefWorks update live on Aug. 15

Submitted by Donna Ekart

RefWorks

RefWorks 2.0 is going live at K-State. RefWorks is a citation management system that allows K-Staters to create personal accounts to store citations for books, journal articles, conference proceedings, films, maps and more. Many of the databases K-State Libraries subscribes to permit researchers to export citations to RefWorks accounts. RefWorks 2.0 maintains the functions of Classic RefWorks, but those functions are now easier to find and use.

On Monday, Aug. 15, all K-Staters will be automatically switched to RefWorks 2.0. Fans of the Classic RefWorks interface may click on the Classic RefWorks link in the upper right hand corner of their screen once logged into RefWorks to revert to the earlier version. The Classic interface will be available through the end of 2011.

Interesting RefWorks facts: 3,177 people have accessed their K-State RefWorks accounts in the past year. K-State alumni may continue to access their RefWorks accounts as long as K-State continues to subscribe to it, making it doubly useful for graduate students carrying their research interests on to professional jobs.

If you are interested in learning more about RefWorks, please check the Libraries' instruction calendar for upcoming classes. More classes will be added to the calendar for the fall semester. RefWorks tutorials and other guides created by libraries staff will also be updated to reflect changes to the system. Questions about using RefWorks? Ask a librarian!
