Update on Ebola and travel policy
Submitted by Lafene Health Center
Given the situation in West Africa regarding the Ebola outbreak, Kansas State University will not approve, until further notice, any university-sponsored student, faculty or staff travel to the countries on the list of Center for Disease Control level 3 travel alert list: Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Because of the potentially dynamic character of the situation, we also will be analyzing any requests for travel to other countries in West Africa, in particular Nigeria, on a case-by-case basis. Travel approval will involve a risk management committee with participation of the Office of International Programs, Lafene Health Center and the academic college involved in the request, in consultation with the Office of General Counsel.
Lafene Health Center has professional nursing staff conducting brief screening interviews for anyone who may have been to the four West African countries considered a risk area — Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. Any student, faculty or staff member who has traveled to/from these areas in the past four weeks is encouraged to contact Lafene and speak with a nurse. Lafene staff members are closely coordinating with the CDC and other health agencies on this issue.
For complete guidelines, visit the Lafene Health Center website.
