Deadline Oct. 25 to switch to new wireless networks
At 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, the wireless network “k-state.net” will be turned off permanently, so K-Staters must switch before then to one of the new, more secure wireless networks, “KSU Wireless” or “KSU Housing."
As reported in earlier K-State Today articles and mass emails to all faculty, staff and students, K-State’s wireless data networks are switching this fall to a new form of security, known as WPA2 Enterprise, which provides much better protection of K-State information, your personal information and your electronic communications.
You must switch to one of these networks before Oct. 25 or your wireless connection will stop working. Usage statistics indicate more than 6,000 wireless devices used k-state.net last week, Oct. 9-16, so many people still need to make the switch. However, nearly 16,500 devices used one of the new networks so most have made the transition.
Don’t wait until the last minute to convert. Go to wireless.k-state.edu/connect now and follow the instructions, or come to one of the clinics in the K-State Student Union by the food court at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the following dates:
- Wednesday, Oct. 19
- Tuesday, Oct. 25
- Wednesday, Oct. 26
