'Redeployment' author to speak Oct. 1
Phil Klay, author of "Redeployment," will speak from 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, in the K-State Alumni Center Ballroom. A book signing will precede the lecture at 3 p.m. and a reception will follow the lecture at 5:30 p.m.
"Redeployment" takes readers to the front lines of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, asking them to understand what happened there and what happened to the soldiers who returned. Interwoven with themes of brutality and faith, guilt and fear, helplessness and survival, the characters in these stories struggle to make meaning out of chaos.
The lecture is sponsored by K-State's Office of Military Affairs, K-State's Institute for the Health and Security of Military Families, and the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce's Military Relations Committee.
The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for admission: Contact Kali Summers at kalijo@k-state.edu.
