Modern languages faculty present literary translations at national conference

Two modern languages professors presented their work at the national conference of the American Literary Translators Association, Nov. 17-18, in Kansas City, Mo.
Anna Hiller, visiting assistant professor of Spanish, presented "The Thrill," her translation of the short story "La ilusión" by Panamanian writer Enrique Jaramillo Levi.
Laura Kanost, assistant professor of Spanish, read from "The Realm of Fortune," her translation of the film screenplay "El imperio de la fortuna" by Mexican writer Paz Alicia Garcíadiego. Hiller is working on an anthology of translated short stories, and Kanost is translating screenplays by Mexican women for a bilingual anthology.
