The American Association of University Women is accepting applications for the Community Action Grants Program. Grants provide funds to individuals, the association branches and state organizations as well as community-based nonprofit organizations for innovative programs or non-degree research projects that promote education and equity for women and girls.

Funding amounts are a one-year grant, $2,000-$7,000 and two-year grant, $5,000-$10,000. The application deadline is Jan. 15, 2015. Visit the association website for complete program guidelines and application procedures.

One-year grants provide funding for community-based projects. Two-year grants provide start-up funds for new projects that address the particular needs of the community and develop girls' sense of achievement through leadership or advocacy opportunities. Project topic areas are unrestricted but should include a clearly defined activity that promotes education and equity for women and girls. Special consideration will be given to projects focused on the achievements of K-12 girls and community college women in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

As a global leader in providing educational funding for women, the association awards about $4 million annually in fellowships and grants. Other upcoming funding opportunities through the association include: International Fellowships, deadline Dec. 1; Career Development Grants, deadline Dec. 15; and Selected Professions Fellowships, deadline Jan. 10, 2015.

Please direct specific application questions to association's application processing center by emailing aauw@scholarshipamerica.org or calling 319-688-4334.
