Submitted by Communications and Marketing
Jesse Nippert, associate professor of biology, has been invited to speak at the Arab-American Frontiers of Science, Engineering and Medicine Symposium Dec. 13-15 in Muscat, Oman.
The conference is jointly organized by the U.S. National Academy of Science and the Research Council of Oman. Nippert will be giving a platform presentation in the panel "Global Food Security: Adaptations for the Future."
The Arab American Frontiers of Science, Engineering and Medicine is based on the success of the long-standing Kavli Frontiers of Science program, jointly sponsored by of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and The Kavli Foundation. The symposia program aims at promoting inter-disciplinary collaboration between young — under 45 years old — scientists and researchers on cutting-edge science and technology research.
Guidelines for participant selection in this conference:
- A demonstrated accomplishment in science, engineering, medical research or technical work with recognizable contributions to advancing their fields.
- Interest in development in other fields — and in engaging with people working on them — and the ability to consider how advances, techniques and approaches in those areas relate to the nominee's own field.
- Speakers possess the potential to be a future leader in the science, engineering or medical field.
- Demonstrated impact on the development of their country — participation in scientific projects, meetings and contribution to the promotion of science and technology within society.
