Major addition: Salina campus phasing in leadership studies minor
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
Kansas State University's popular leadership studies minor is spreading.
The university's Salina campus will begin offering the course Introduction to Leadership Concepts in the spring 2012 semester, which starts Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012. It's the first step toward making the minor available at Kansas State University Salina.
"The class has two focuses," said Levi Esses, assistant director of student life on the Salina campus. "Students will learn about themselves as leaders and they will participate in a service learning project to get them involved in the community."
Students also will write their personal leadership philosophy and examine the discipline of leadership.
Esses will co-teach the class with Michael Finnegan, instructor of leadership studies.
The class is the first in a set of four classes required to earn a leadership studies minor from K-State.
"We plan to continue adding leadership classes on the Salina campus," Esses said. "The program provides tremendous opportunities for our students that will prepare them for the workplace and community involvement."
The leadership studies program is offered through the university's School of Leadership Studies. More information is available at http://www.k-state.edu/leadership/.
